Reigning World Champions Italy made all the early running against Paraguay looking the better team with some slick passing and movement in the final third , but after the South Americans managed to keep the game goalless it was they who struck first when Aureliano Torres’s dangerous free-kick was headed home by defender Antolin Alacaraz. The Azzurri levelled just after the hour mark with their own set-play goal, Simone Pepe’s corner was totally missed by keeper Villar and Daniele De Rossi was on hand to slide in the equaliser.
